Hi Guys! My first blog post and what am I going to talk about… saving and splurging! For those of you who don’t know me, let me start by saying that I love saving money almost as much as I love spending it. Shopping for me really is a double-edged sword. I love to keep up with trends, but what I don’t love is how fast some of them go out of style. Whenever I splurge on a current trend that fades quickly, I feel like Lisa Rinna’s lips in 1984… deflated. I love to keep up with trends from my favorite fashion bloggers and Instagram accounts, and I’ve noticed that there are a few items that are very on trend right now…some I have invested in, and others that I have found some really good alternatives. This post is to help you guys decide which items you want to splurge on, and which items you want to save on.
I’m starting out with a trend that I chose to splurge on, and those are my Spanx leggings. I am OBSESSED with these. You know those pieces that when you pull them out of your closet, you have to think “Do I wear this too much?”… this pair of leggings is that for me. They cost $98, and in my opinion, they’re worth every penny.
However, I know we’re all on a budget and leather pants aren’t something that everyone wants to splurge on. Here I’ve found a pair for $27 that are high waisted (similar to the Spanx leggings).
This backpack/purse hybrid has made its way onto every fashion blog that I’ve seen… The Chloe Small Faye Suede and Leather Backpack. This is a trend that I personally chose to save on. I purchased this bag on Amazon for $60 and I love it. I would say that size wise, it falls somewhere between the Small Faye bag and the Medium Faye bag. It has the option to convert to a backpack or a one-strap purse, it is made from cowhide leather, and aside from the logo- looks almost identical to the Chloe bag.
For those of you who want to splurge on this trend… go right ahead, life is short!
Finally, lets talk over the knee boots. This is a trend that I went back and forth with for a while. I’m fairly short (5 ft. 3 in.) and I wasn’t sure if this one was for me. Although I love to stay current, I believe that one of the biggest marks of having good style is knowing when to give certain trends the boot… get it… boots. I’ll stop now. I did however decide to give in and try them, but because of my uncertainty, I decided to get a more affordable pair. I have this pair from Target, in black. They cost $40, a very reasonable price for someone who wants to dip their toe into this trend. Ultimately, I’m glad I went the more affordable route, although I will say that I may eventually splurge on the Goodnight Macaroon boots that everyone is wearing because I do love how these look. If you are unsure or just want to save, these target ones are a great option.
But again, if you want to splurge on this trend, go ahead… I have a feeling this one is here to stay.
